Walk from Mill End near Hambledon


A long flat walk of about 6 miles going to Henley along one bank of the Thames and back along the other side, for those who want a shorter walk you can walk down to Henley and bus back to near the starting point, Arriva bus routes 800 / 850 serve this area.

Take the Marlow to Henley Road going past the Dog and Badger pub and turn right after about a mile at Mill End, the car park is about 500 yards on the left.

West London Aero Club Member's Day at White Waltham

You are cordially invited to attend West London Aero Clubs private airshow.

Pete Cunliff has10 tickets at no cost but a suggested donation of £6 will be fine (All donations going to charity's - Air Ambulance and RAF Benevolent Fund ).

The day starts at 12 midday.

The main car park will be closed to members & guests, there's plenty of parking down towards gate off runway 29 which will also be used as exit gate.

As this is a private event there will be no entry without ticket, give me a ring for ticket and I can get an idea of numbers.

Late Summer Ball at St. Michaels Church Hall, Amersham

Amersham singles club 'Company' have invited Liaisons again to it's popular annual summer ball at St. Michaels Church Hall, Amersham.

Come and dance to the fantastic live music of Logo with their resident singer with golden oldies from the 60's and 70's, also enjoy a 2 course dinner with wine and soft drinks, this is a Black Tie evening.

Walk from Cookham Dean

This is an undulating 5 mile walk taking in the lovely village of Cookham Dean Cookham Rise and Winter Hill.

Take the A4094 Bourne End to Maidenhead Road, at Cookham turn into High St (B4447), keep on this road through the moor, the pound (narrow bit) straight over mini roundabout, over level crossing through to the end of the village. Turn second left into Hills Lane (at gate that appears in the middle of road), keep on this road for about 1 mile. Park outside The Jolly Farmer on the road.

Meet at 10:45 for a prompt 11am start.

Macmillan Coffee Morning + Country Walk at Kay's Home

From10:30 am onwards- Kay Stenning will be dusting off her baking tins and invites you all to come along for some home made cake, coffee/tea and a friendly chat at her home in Stokenchurch.

This is a countrywide fund-raising event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research so your support would be much appreciated.

To work off all that lovely cake, you are very welcome to join Kay for a walk (around 12:30) from her house approx. 3 miles gentle stroll across country towards Radnage.

Charity Quiz Night in aid of MS Research at Marlow Legion
Please come along to the 3rd annual quiz in aid of this very worthy charity .

Your host and Quizmaster will be Pete Oxbrow aided as ever by his able helpers Mandy and Marie.

Good quizzing not essential but the ability to have a fun night is.

Last year 100 people came along and the night raised £1000.

This is open to everyone so either bring your own team of friends/relatives or just put your name down and you will be in a Liaisons Team.

Walk from Winchmore Hill (The Plough)

This is a walk of approx 5 miles, taking in the village of Coleshill, with undulating countryside and woodland.

From High Wycombe head towards Amersham on the A404, after about 5 miles, you are going downhill, a right turn signposted Winchmore Hill will appear, take this road, continue along along the road till you reach a sharp right turn, here you turn left, continue up this road, with the common on your right till you reach The Plough.

Do not park in the car park.

This is a 5 mile walk of moderate difficulty with some hills and styles.

We meet in the car park behind the shops at Hazlemere Cross Roads.

From High Wycombe take the A404 Amersham Road to Hazlemere where you will see 2 Petrol Stations, turn left and then left again behind the new Retirement Flats into the free car park.

Amblers 1hr Flat Walk from Braywick Nature Park

Ambling is back after a short break.

I hope you can join me in the car park at Braywick Nature park for a nice leisurely stroll through a very pretty area.

This is appx 1 mile off the A404 where it meets the M4 8/9 junction. Off Hibbert Road which is off the A308.

We will set off from the free car park at 11:15.

It's a lovely park with pond and a variety of natural habitats to attract small wildlife; there's a cheap and cheerful carvery just minutes away if needed, for the truly intrepid a couple of minutes away there is a very watery and pretty crazy golf course.

Or you could just come for the walk!

Talk - Secret London at Bourne End Community Centre

Learn about a statue older than Cleopatras Needle, a little bit of Texas in the centre of London, the "body railway ", where the cause of cholera was found.

The worlds largest library devoted to women and many other curiosities in our capital city.

This is a talk by Mike Beech who had given talks to U3A on this fascinating subject.

The talk starts at 7:45, meet in the bar around 7:15 or in Smiles fish restaurant about 200 yards away at about 6:30.

Sunday 21st October Walk from Little Missenden

This is a walk of approximately 5 miles taking in Little Missenden and Amersham.

Little Missenden can be found off the A413 between Amersham and Great Missenden.

On leaving High Wycombe take the A404 towards Amersham, turn left at the A413.

At the next roundabout keep straight on, after about ½ mile take the slip road on the left signposted Little Missenden, follow this road until you reach the Red Lion pub on your right.

Park on the road near the pub.

Meet at 10:45 for a prompt 11:00 start.

Race Night at Bourne End Community Centre

Join us for a night of fun with the chance of a flutter on the Gee Gees (didn't they write the songs for Saturday Night Fever?).

If you have never been to an indoor race night before it's all the enjoyment of a race meeting only on film and in the dry and warm.

The event is in the big hall at the Centre arrive at 7:30 for the first race at 8pm.

This walk takes in the villages of West Wycombe and Downley. West Wycombe is on the A40 High Wycombe to Oxford road.

Go through the village and turn right into Chorley Road, the entrance to the garden centre (although no longer a garden centre) can be found on the left after 100yds.
